A Demotion for Christopher Hartnett

Lots of activity by CMA chairman and founder Christopher Hartnett on Reddit in the week following publication of The Daily Beast (DB) article on February 24.

He continues to show traits of an angry narcissist of some kind, as I mentioned here. Confrontational screeds with disparaging attacks is his style. He left 20 comments between February 27 and March 1. His ‘GunPorn‘ photo was deleted around same period.

In the wake of the DB article and other developments it’s not only these new comments that reveal his state of mind: edits he’s made to older comments are especially interesting and worth recording here. I am sure Hartnett did not consider it’s possible his edits can be compared to the originals, as I will do below. I’m also including new audio clips from Hartnett’s 2019 internal CMA conference call which are relevant and important.

Hartnett did not like the DB article one bit and appears to be under impression it was sourced from Reddit and hence spends a lot of energy attacking the platform, its users and the journalist. Cult writer and undue influence expert Steven Hassan quoted in that article also gets admonished repeatedly.

There’s too much to include everything here. Some selections:

Hartnett knows a lot about “CULT dribble”

Hartnett’s crude lack of consideration and absence of empathy is all over the above Reddit comment: DB, Cheyenne Roundtree and Reddit are ‘raping McKayla again’ he says.

I don’t know where the $125 pricetag for pendants is from. The cheapest CMA currently sell is a small silver one for $149.99 which McKayla visibly doesn’t have. On the contrary she has at least two large pendants in gold and silver as I covered.

Hartnett again:

The people perpetuating nonsense are Hartnett and MJD by selling this moronic church which is a cult to McKayla and others.

Forums like Reddit aren’t cults: for one thing, opposing views are allowed and discussed as Hartnett is taking part in himself. Unlike in CMA where no signs of discontent or contrary views are entertained or published, and dissent and questions will get you excluded and silenced.

I’m posting here a new clip from the 2019 internal CMA conference call demonstrating Hartnett’s attitude to doubters and waverers:

28 October 2019 CMA internal call

There’s not a person on this call … who I know doesn’t love John more than practically anything else in creation. And we’re gonna start from there.

But if you really love him and you really want to see this be a multi-billion dollar enterprise, which it’s going to be regardless, and since we can’t fallow you, what we can do is put you out to pasture and not love you in the sense that you’re not part of the business, you’re not part of helping the world. But you will feel horrible because the moment you realize what is actually happening you will do anything in your power to make this happen because there’s nothing greater for anybody to do in the universe than what we’re doing right now.

There’s so many beings watching what’s happening now they wish they were in human bodies so they could help us. They wish they were here. And we’ve been given that, we’ve been given those human rights to be here, for whatever reason.

Christopher Hartnett

Lest anyone in CMA forget the greatest way to spend your life is helping MJD’s mission: they should be grateful they’re alive on Earth where they can effect the change MJD wants. Hartnett tells dissenters dead people are envious of their life. So fall in line, get back to the job and you won’t need to torment yourself at what you lost in CMA.

“Your dark shadow” in the previous Reddit quote brought to mind a YouTube comment I’ve had in back of my mind since I first saw it (video since deleted) which is overdue being shared on the blog:

Someone who attended a CMA event and regrets it.

Back to Reddit:

51,000 is an interesting number. Interesting because it shows how far CMA are from the 300,000 ‘souls’ Hartnett boasted he wanted to save two years ago. Another clip from his 2019 conference call with CMA higher-ups, which also gives a sense of the tone of voice his Reddit comments must have been written in:

“But why would anybody get in the way of anything good? You have to ask yourself this. Why is you so important? Why am I so important that we can stop John’s mission, how would you feel if you died and you were the one that was stopping people from their evolution? And because we get into our own heads, our own self-pity, our own problems that we then start to project that and muddy up the waters.

We want a clear, crystal diamond path to salvation for every one of the 300,000 souls we’re trying to do. And many of us are here on Earth only for that, and that’s all we’re gonna do. And we’re gonna do it with or without the people huffing. If you don’t help and you don’t like people being selfless when they’re working and you have to impose yourself on people then we’ll sit you down on the bench and we’ll be nice to you, we’ll say Hi to you, come to the events, you can get blessed and play your CDs by yourself and so be it.

And the moment you die you say “Oh my god, I was one of the 60 people on Earth out of 7.5 billion that had a chance for the most direct path on Earth to save humanity and I blew it!”

And you don’t want to feel that way believe me. And many of you have already felt that in many other lifetimes, you don’t want to feel like you blew it.

This is the lifetime that we’re gonna shine, this is the lifetime we’re gonna be our best self. John has given us blessing after blessing after blessing, many of us are such barbarians we don’t deserve this but he’s given to us none the less.

Hartnett, 28 October 2019

There’s a lot to digest there. I intend to write a dedicated post with full context what he’s talking about. But why 300,000 souls? I am clueless.

Back to Reddit, and Hartnett feverishly insists all healing is performed by God, Jesus, anyone besides MJD :

Link

And again:

Link

This insistence by Hartnett is mirrored in a new large disclaimer added to beginning of CMA’s About page:

Both are desperate to say MJD doesn’t do healing. But CMA and MJD have obviously said otherwise many times: the audio and other blatant evidence are all over my blog.

No individual or human being does healing for CMA” – this point we can agree on. MJD and his Elites’ inability to heal has never been in doubt outside CMA. But this poor attempt at a strong legal text doesn’t address the problem: MJD professes he can heal and he sells himself on those lies. He professes he talks to angels and knows of undiscovered microscopic parasites. He pretends to be called Master John Douglas. And CMA promote him, his ‘abilities’ and his ‘healing’ tools and seminars as ways to be healed.

We don’t want anyone to think any human person is doing the healing. All healing comes from God. We want to be clear about that without question.” – again this couldn’t be more false. Hartnett misses the point as he often does when defending MJD. No healing is taking place but is promoted through fake science, bogus testimonials, and brainwashing seminars. There are 100s of testimonials thanking MJD for healing which CMA spread through specific hashtags on social media, and encourage followers to thank and praise MJD for what he’s done for them. And again there is all the audio and promotional material I’ve posted.

But in fact we need go no further than the same About page to see Hartnett and the new disclaimer are contradicting themselves. A few sections down is:

Even if that highlighted line gets removed from the About page it will not remove the countless other times CMA and MJD have said he can heal. MJD appears to be a kind of Schrödinger’s Healer: a master healer while at same time doing no healing. A similiar paradox as CMA not being able to decide if MJD’s powers are based on science or faith.

“Healers” is an endemic belief among CMA followers, as I’ve shown many times. Here we see an Elite, ‘L’, completely forgetting CMA’s disclaimers about seeking professional medical care first:

Facebook, 20 April 2020

None of the other Elites in that comment thread ‘corrected’ L or reminded her MJD and his SFR tool are officially secondary options, not first port of call.

But CMA know ‘healer’ is a word fraught with legal issues. One example of CMA covering their backs is this change in description of so-called ‘F’ events, removing the title “Elite Healer”:

CMA website November 2019
CMA website March 2021

Back to Hartnett’s recent Reddit comments:

Link

Totally transparent” is false. As I’ve explained here and elsewhere there are no transparent donations made. CMA and SELF Foundation money is moved around a network of obscure companies, of which I shall be posting more about in the future.

You are weak secret hiding sauce” – one of Hartnett’s tamer insults. “Weak”, “snowflake”, “hater”, “virtue signaling” just some of the words Hartnett uses trying to defend CMA. Maybe he should have given the job instead to CMA’s “legal expert” Jeffrey Wagner – “one of the top legal minds of the world” supposedly.

Hartnett doesn’t disagree he talks like a gangster:

Link

Like a gangster on the lam, Hartnett may be having a meltdown seeing his machinations and co-conspirators falling apart. Gangsters need their day in court and jailtime.

Editor in Chief

Now a look at the edits I mentioned Hartnett has made to his old comments.

The edits show attemps to rewrite history: in an effort to decrease his apparent responsibilty and authority in CMA.

Edit #1

I am the Chairman of the Foundation” becomes “I am a member of the Foundation“:

These 3 screenshots were all taken at different times, ignore the “x hours/days/months ago” parts.

The 27 Nov 2020 comment above is the first comment by ‘tedhens’, boldy announcing himself as Chairman. Which tells us he is Hartnett (alongside additional evidence I’m leaving for a dedicated post.)

In the 24 Dec 2020 comment above he writes he’s “senior pastor”. I don’t remember ever hearing him called that before. Certainly a step down from Chairman. But still a typically overblown title from Hartnett.

On 28 Feb 2021, we seem to have a massive fall in Hartnett’s position in CMA. So great he feels the need to go back and edit his first comment to say he’s merely a “member”!

Hartnett’s choice of CMA identity on Reddit descends from Chairman to Senior Pastor to member, decreasing anyone’s ability to identify him personally (or so he thinks.)

This sequence of comments and edits show Hartnett wants to cover-up his identity and role. But it’s too late: it’s on record and the edit and man behind the account is known. And in truth his role hasn’t changed.

Edit #2

The Dec 24 comment above was also subjected to later editing on Feb 28, more damning than Edit #1.

I have the Church, not him. I am the senior pastor so if you have a beef, it should be with me and not him. He doesn’t touch the money, I do” becomes “He is the guest Pastor. So if you have a beef, it should be with our Church Council and not him. He doesn’t touch the money, we do.” :

These 2 screenshots were taken at different times, ignore the “x days/months ago” parts.

Red edit: Hartnett is trying to remove his admission of responsibilty for CMA’s money, passing it off to an imaginary “Church Council”. This “Church Council” may as well be Hartnett’s equivalent of MJD’s “master angels” – conjured-up entities to take credit for actual people’s actions. And what of his wife Linda Hartnett and Greta Huizenga, listed as treasurers of CMA and SELF?

In the blue edit, Hartnett removes the idea he’s the “senior pastor” and in its place he says MJD is “guest pastor”. This is Hartnett again insisting MJD is independent of CMA with no role besides a “guest” of the organization. “This organization is not Master John Douglas’s organization” he wrote on 27 Nov 2020. But it’s all lies. A setup to ultimately hide that CMA’s multi-million dollar revenue is funneled to MJD’s real-life self, contrary to strict regulations for 501(c)(3) charitable organizations.

The lie is proved in these next two damning clips from 2019’s internal conference call where Hartnett is speaking only to key CMA people. He makes it crystal clear MJD is the real power at top of the organization’s hierarchy. I was quite shocked how blatantly he was speaking of it, but remember he is not speaking to the public here. His audience was around 60 CMA Elites and other higher-ups. Please credit and link DFHM if you share:

28 October 2019 CMA internal call

Hartnett:

And when you say “I’m gonna go see John” or “I’m gonna go do this or that” you were talking to us. You’re not going anywhere around anybody. Nobody including me has credentials that were gonna supersede the organization that’s here and go directly to John. John is in charge. What he wants is there.

This is all divine, this is all being run by divinity. And you have the ability to scan at any given moment to see the truth of every single word I’m saying. Because this is not coming from us, we’re not making this up.

And we want you all to be there at the finish line. You can feel it, we’re ready to explode.

28 October 2019 CMA internal call

Hartnett:

We can be manipulated and we can be manipulative. We’ve done this for centuries. There were kingdoms, we had high priestesses, all types of people that were out there running all different civilizations. And now they come in and don’t understand why people don’t jump when they say something.

We have so many kings and queens in this group that we could either kill each other, bump into each other or we can fall in love and fall in line.

That line and love of path is like a triangle. If you could picture it in your head, and indulge me for a second. At the very top is John. He has a thought; his thought should filter through the entire organization and get all the way to the bottom where the masses are without any obstruction.

Conclusively, in this audio we hear Hartnett declare MJD is in charge and must be obeyed. Destroying the public claim MJD “doesn’t have a Church”; is merely a “guest” or “frequent speaker”; that those organizations are separate from him. In fact, the whole organization, from its roots built on lies to every shady branch to every leaf of its adoring membership is for MJD’s benefit, glorification and control. What’s more, this is a one-way relationship.

Hartnett likens the key people on the call to kings and queens, with MJD as God. And talks about divinity. I think he’s trying to say if the “kings and queens” of CMA faithfully followed MJD’s “divine” wishes better and put their trust in him, then the “masses” would obey their commands.

I suspect Hartnett had in mind the so-called “divine right of kings” of yore:

In this way, the “divine right” originates as a metaphysical act of humility or submission towards God. The divine right has been a key element for legitimizing many absolute monarchies.

Consequentially, it asserts that a monarch is not accountable to an earthly authority (such as a parliament) because their right to rule is derived from divine authority. The monarch is thus not subject to the will of his people, of the aristocracy, or of any other estate of the realm.

… which mirrors exactly Hartnett’s and MJD’s belief they aren’t – and won’t be – accountable for anything. I have no doubt both men would refuse to recognize the legitimacy of any earthly court or process against them. Like many wrongdoers declaring “only God can judge me”.

If you have beef, it should be with me” becomes “If you have beef, it should be with our Church Council“. Again Hartnett tries to show a decrease of his influence and status in CMA, thereby decreasing his future legal accountability, he probably thinks. But the edits are here to see.

Earlier he went from Chairman to senior pastor to merely a ‘member’. No surprise he denies he’s personally or soley responsible for anything. In his mind he’s innocent of any wrong doing, financial or otherwise. But if he won’t accept accountability, who is left to pass it on to?

Not MJD. Though Hartnett curiously doesn’t name him in his newest batch of comments he’s still defending him on his behalf by diminishing his role, declaring he too is not accountable, which is laughable. A character trait MJD and Hartnett share that I’ve discussed before. He’s not pushing blame onto MJD but he would if he had a backbone. So who does Hartnett expect to take the hit for him when justice comes knocking?

A third edit gives us the answer.

Edit #3

This is a small but crucial change Hartnett made to his long 27 Nov 2020 comment.

100% of our volunteer staff have been healed in one way or another” becomes “100% of our volunteer staff have been healed by God in one way or another“:

Link

Clearly Hartnett realized the original version leaves open the credit who did the healing to an unacceptable degree and didn’t sufficiently absolve MJD, so he alters it to put responsibility exclusively onto actual God like in CMA’s legal disclaimers. Like a beneficial “an act of God” for which no human can be held responsible.

Summary

Hartnett is an arrogant man who thinks his view of the universe is unquestionably the right one. Disagreements are attacks on his ‘pure’ and ‘good’ vision of the world and the souls inhabiting it and trying to elevate it. He will never see the flaws in his approach or understand other people have problems with it.

If you don’t believe in God the differences are unresolvable: he’ll end the discussion, as if he refuses to entertain the thought God doesn’t exist. That would crumble his whole grand idea, learned from Maharishi Mahesh Yogi and appropriated by MJD via transcendental meditation. Eternal human souls living and reincarnating between worlds, elevating to perfect unquestioning “oneness” with the creator. Insanely, he believes MJD is the way to achieve it in this lifetime.

With no God to submit to, there would be no-one left for Hartnett to blame except himself.

His comments and edits I’ve described here come across as an angry, rushed reaction to the damaging ‘cult’ label. He’s like a hitherto all-powerful dictator who sees the tide finally starting to turn against him.

Or is it simple frustration seeing external criticism is starting to outrank CMA’s own material in search results?

Fleshlights and Master John Douglas

One of the first critical and rational assessments of MJD/CMA I found was bizarrely by an anonymous ex-employee of the sex-toy manufacturer Fleshlight. It’s posted on Glassdoor 12 September 2019 in context of a review of the Fleshlight company as an employer. Fleshlight and parent company Interactive Life Forms (ILF) are based in Austin, Texas since 1995 and hail themselves as The #1 Male Sex Toy in the World.

The review:

https://www.glassdoor.com/Reviews/Fleshlight-Reviews-E117568.htm

The CEO is part of a religious group call The Master Angels. I think it’s fair to describe them as a cult since they center around a charismatic leader named Master John Douglas who claims he can cure cancer, lyme disease, etc. He hosts $250 seminars and sells supplements, DVDs and healing jewelry online.

This is relevant because 2 weeks after I was hired, my boss the CTO, one of the smartest and most decorated engineers I have ever worked with, was fired and replaced by a high priestess of the Master Angels. This woman had convinced the CEO (fraudulently) that she was capable of contacting angels in heaven via the power of crystals and that they could help her make perfect business decisions.

I am not even joking.

If you decide to take a job at ILF there are a few things you should know:

– Your opinion does not matter.

– The CEO is extremely volatile.

– You can get “terminated” for any reason or no reason at all.

– 20%-ish of the employees are the CEO’s direct family members.

– Most of the management belongs to the crystal angel cult.

– Smart people are not welcome because they are a threat to the divine.

I really hope that the CEO eventually realizes that these crystal people are lying. They cannot talk to angels. They do not have magic powers. Crystals are just rocks. The whole thing is an absolute fraud it would be great if one day they all get sued. I would love to see them try to explain their value proposition to a judge and jury.

The review mentions several of the key issues my blog covers. It serves to remind me how MJD is viewed by people not previously exposed to him and without a predilection to his karmic angel-based lies. The review acknowledges the absurdness of CMA and MJD. It describes how CMA are a negative influence not only on personal and spiritual development but careers and business decisions.

Fleshlight CEO Steve Shubin with wife Kathy Shubin and Fleshlight staff (undated). How many CMA members are in this photo I wonder?

“High priestess” is not an official CMA term as far as I know but it sounds like the reviewer is describing one of “400+” Elite Development course graduates who believe MJD has taught them to commune with angels and see viruses inside people at the molecular-level using “remote sensing” just like he supposedly can.

Convinced the CEO (fraudulently) that she was capable of contacting angels in heaven via the power of crystals and that they could help her make perfect business decisions” tells us this CMA devotee applies MJD’s teachings to all areas of life.

Two relevant teleseminar clips of MJD talking about reforming everything you are through his CDs, courses and “processes”:

MJD, 21 March 2020 teleseminar
MJD, 30 October 2020 teleseminar

Smart people are not welcome because they are a threat to the divine” mirrors exactly what MJD teaches about “stopping the machine” of one’s “interferring” rational intellect lest it obstruct “oneness”, “divine bliss” and “cleaning out the crappy notions around your issues”:

MJD, 30 October 2020 teleseminar

The review describes the CMA member installing like-minded colleagues into other management roles. A covert way for a cult to take over a company.

I tip my hat to the anonymous reviewer for sharing this rare insight of the influence of CMA members within an established business. And for not holding back: “The whole thing is an absolute fraud it would be great if one day they all get sued.”

“Contacting angels in heaven via the power of crystals”? CMA chapel in Heavenly Mountain near Boone, North Carolina, 2017

The CEO and founder of Fleshlight is Steve Shubin. Here are more worrying quotes from other reviews of Fleshlight and Shubin (some predate CMA):

Steve Shubin, the CEO, is a full-tilt bozo idiot.

The company is owned by a master manipulator, Steve Shubin.

Poor leadership, no direction, compensation, benefits, creepy owner and his old wife [Kathy (Harter) Shubin, ex-professional tennis player] lurking around.

Private company constantly at the whims of a bored and ridiculously wealthy CEO who does not understand how modern companies function and operate.

Habitually fires large groups of people. Sometimes with good reason and sometimes for no reason at all.

There is no management, only a crazy millionaire steroid freak owner. And he sleeps in an egg shaped sensory deprivation chamber.

Every single day is filled with lies, firings, half-truths, and hardships. Decisions are made on a whim and rarely make any sense.

It is a cesspool that is now nothing more than a hobby for a bored CEO & his family; they don’t have any friends outside the company anymore, so it exists solely to feed their egos at this point.

Shubin has settled multiple times for sexual harassment.

https://www.glassdoor.com/Reviews/Fleshlight-Reviews-E117568.htm

It’s hard to imagine anyone wanting to work for Fleshlight after reading that.

The company is owned by a master manipulator, Steve Shubin” sounds just the kind of person CMA would want for a higher-up member.

None of the reviews mention if Kathy is also CMA-affiliated. But a sidenote: Kathy’s son Aubrey Marcus runs Onnit, a multi-million dollar “human optimization and health empire” labelled by some as cult-like.

Steve and Kathy Shubin

The revelation CMA are operating within the upper management of Fleshlight is intriguing by itself, but also brings to mind this odd remark made by CMA chairman Christopher Hartnett on an internal CMA conference call:

Hartnett, CMA conference call 2019

“So what do we do? We have to grow this and we can’t wait around for everybody to become CEOs of companies.

Hartnett was speaking to a selected group of leaders and higher-ups about a recent test of loyalty and commitment to CMA he conducted. The full context of that audio I’ll leave for another post but even when given context this remark puzzles me, not being clear what Hartnett was inferring.

But if we take this clip together with the Fleshlight CEO information, a possible inference is CMA are deliberately infiltrating management levels of market leading companies to influence, control and expand CMA’s reach and resources. What reach and resources? Global success and money, naturally. This was revealed in another clip from the same internal CMA conference call where Hartnett states the “natural order” of CMA is to become a “multi-billion dollar company”:

Hartnett, CMA conference call 2019

Lest we forget, CMA is a 501(c)(3)-classed organization. Such organizarions are exempt from federal income tax while required to operate exclusively for religious, charitable, scientific, literary, or educational purposes.

I finish by wondering how much direct influence MJD has on Fleshlight? For example on product designs? Might MJD wish to release a range of CMA-branded sex toys? I’ve said too much.

Mock-up of an imagined MJD/Fleshlight collab

McKayla Maroney and her Supreme Grand Master John Douglas

Credit Descent From Heavenly Mountain and include link if quoting this article

Introduction

McKayla Maroney, the gymnastics gold & silver medallist at the 2012 Olympic Games is a member of the Church of Master Angels and is an ardent devotee of the church’s faith healer “Supreme Grand Master John Douglas” who claims he can remotely look inside patients’ bodies across the world to identify and kill viruses by commanding angels.

Furthermore, McKayla believes in her master’s powers to such an extent she is a student of his “Elite Development” course, where he teaches those same powers together with “the scientific proof of God”.

Master John Douglas
The charlatan “Master John Douglas” (undated photo)

Access to the initial 4-day Elite course is strictly controlled and requires payment of $10,000 minimum. During the last 2-3 years, McKayla has attended multiple CMA seminars, events and visited their invitation-only chapel in Heavenly Mountain, North Carolina. McKayla is believed to have successfully graduated from the Elite course by September 2020.

Master John Douglas (MJD) claims in total he has taught over 400 such Elite graduates to identify and kill viruses within the body using “remote scanning” before calling upon a mystical host of “master angels” under the guidance of the “Supreme God”. MJD is supposedly a world renowned healer but whose genuine biography is a mystery.

The Church of Master Angels make the preposterous claim that aged 9, MJD:

Received a complete clairvoyant activation, allowing full vision of the energetic or spiritual dimension. Higher faculties of remote scanning or sensing of the energetic realm or quantum level is also a feature of John’s holistic ability, allowing him to measure and identify various energetic frequencies within the body and surrounding spiritual realms.

About | CMA International Foundation

CMA sell a variety of esoteric products claiming to offer physical and spiritual benefit. From “karmic mitigation blessings” to “pet repair discs”, yearly sales of these placebo items bring in revenue of millions of dollars, sent through the supposedly charitable Global SELF Foundation to undisclosed destinations overseas. The church exists only to take money from recruits and provides no real or lasting benefits, no oversight and no charitable projects have ever been supported.

Centerpiece remote healing products Karmic Mitigation Blessings and Silent Faith Remote Healings are $250 each. These blessings are for “remediation and mitigation of a health challenge or a specific situation that is in need of Divine attention or support”. Buyers are told “once requested, the work is done by God and the Masters Angels on the subtle silent levels. There is no written or verbal interaction during or after these remote healing directed prayers.”

Meditation CDs are typically $149.99 each.

MJD is seen in this 2015 video performing a blessing for an audience by using his hands “like an air-traffic controller” to bring his Master Angels into the room:

CMA YouTube (clip from deleted 2015 workshop video)

CMA’s founder and business leader is Christopher Hartnett, ex-commodities broker, ex-gemstone salesman and ex-domain name reseller. Hartnett runs the CMA operation as a profit-motivated business, proclaiming its destiny is a “multi-billion dollar company”, using manipulative tests of loyality:

Hartnett, internal CMA conference call 2019

“… in order to make this group work self-sufficiently, we had to do a test, to show people how they get in the way, to show people how they react, to show people how they are obstructing the natural order of this movement becoming a multi-billion dollar company.”

A rare photo of Hartnett with MJD (undated)

CMA and MJD know they are charlatans because the following disclaimer appears on every page:

The products and items on this website are not intended to diagnose, treat, cure, or prevent any disease or medical condition.

The products and items on this website are not substitutes for prudent medical care offered by a licensed medical professional.

Additionally, when applying for the Elite course, the following disclaimer appears, which proves the course is nothing except snake oil and placebos:

I have not been cajoled, coerced, threatened or persuaded by Master Spiritual Teacher John Douglas; The Global SELF Foundation; CMA International Foundation or his/their associates to undergo or partake in any particular knowledge course, training, treatment, medication or substance and that I freely acknowledge that any unorthodox or unusual training, treatment, medication or substance that I may utilize is done with my full awareness and acknowledgment that it is of my own free will. I also fully acknowledge that no representations, promises or warranties, express or implied, have been made to me by Master Spiritual Teacher John Douglas or his associates as to the benefits or results that I may gain or experience as a result of attending any knowledge course, training, workshop seminar and the like. I attend such events of my own free will with no expectation of any health, spiritual or other personal benefits whatsoever.

The disclaimer raises troubling questions about how many ex-CMA members do indeed consider they were “cajoled, coerced, threatened or persuaded by Master Spiritual Teacher John Douglas; The Global SELF Foundation; CMA International Foundation or his/their associates”.

I believe this is the first time all these details have been assembled and publicly revealed.

Background

As I’ve discussed in previous posts:

  1. MJD claims “Our group and my Elites have seen proof of God…” :
MJD, 30th October 2020 teleseminar

Elite course attendees have to sign non-disclosure agreements about what they’re taught. What kind of legitmate church proffering global “soul elevation” does that and boasts “secret knowledge not for everyone“?

  1. Visitors to CMA’s invite-only chapel in Boone, North Carolina lay hands on a “14,680lb quartz crystal” to experience its “divine and transformational energy”
Believers lay hands on a large crystal at the CMA chapel in Heavenly Mountain, North Carolina (2017)
  1. MJD claims COVID-19 is one of myriad viruses and health problems he can prevent and remotely cure by controlling angels with his hands and mind. He says he “discovered” COVID-19 is something called a “multiple viral cell” containing “parasitic worms”. Complete fiction.
  1. CMA and its sister organisation The Global Self Foundation have revenue of millions of dollars but the vast majority is sent overseas to an undisclosed destination ostensibly for charitable purposes.
  1. MJD claims he’s performed over 50,000 miracles and has published alleged proof in a “Medical Miracles” book written by Elite Development graduate Richard Sarnat.
  1. MJD devotees wear gold, silver or diamond pendants to ward off negative energies
A Church of the Master Angels member wearing a CMA pendant and showing her Elite Development certificate signed by MJD (2013)
  1. Hartnett and MJD insist CMA is not a cult
Christopher Hartnett with a painting of Master John Douglas (undated photo)
The “humble” “Supreme Grand Master John Douglas” in his gilded chapel near Boone, NC (2019)
  1. Believers in MJD’s supernatural healing and karmic powers are eager to praise and “bow in gratitude” for their “Supreme Grand Master”, saying they’re the “most fortunate people on the Earth to learn from Master John Douglas”. And that the “Elite Development Course exceeds what I once believed was only possible in Heaven”.

McKayla

In late July 2018, McKayla added without explanation this unusual video to her twitter profile. The link remained there a year later.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHThUw5r7b0
@McKaylaMaroney twitter 1 Aug 2019 showing the CMA video link in bio area

This did not attract much attention.

I watched the video, posted on a channel called “Master Angels” shortly after she first linked to it. Perplexed and intrigued, I visited the channel’s website. Some kind of strange church I’d never heard of. And this was how I started researching CMA. The more I looked, the more insane it all was. My research was not regular, months would often pass without me thinking of CMA. Eventually her twitter link was changed and she wouldn’t publicly mention anything CMA related again until much later.

I don’t know when or how McKayla was introduced to CMA but I note she lives in Long Beach, Los Angeles which seems something of a CMA hotspot.

I was able to determine she visited CMA’s headquarters in Heavenly Mountain near Boone, North Carolina for a “Taste of Elite” event in June 2018. That indicated this so-called church meant more to her than than a casual twitter link of a random meditation video. I shall leave the details of this 2018 discovery for a later post.

It’s notable CMA have never pushed McKayla as a member or advocate. I imagine it would get far more publicity than their typical promo video:

But CMA say they don’t seek publicity. Of course they don’t: if CMA/MJD were exposed to a mass audience beyond their control the response would be disbelief how anyone – let alone a young, widely admired Olympic hero – could believe any of the snake oil they preach and sell.

Like many other cults, outsiders predisposed to the core beliefs are selectively introduced by existing members and friends, rather than mass-recruited via a wide net.

If the claims CMA/MJD make were real then McKayla and their other followers would have no reason to keep it exclusive and secret. If MJD’s 50,000 miracles were proven he would be genuinely world-renowned. If he was for real, it would spread positivity not the negativity MJD despises.

Hartnett has said some of his people work anonymously. As will be seen below and in later posts, the handful of times McKayla’s devotion to MJD has been revealed it’s been hidden, soon deleted or carefully obfuscated to avoid undue exposure or discovery by outsiders.

Pendants

In November 2019 I noticed McKayla had recently liked a number of CMA tweets and followed their twitter account @churchofma. This prompted me to resume looking into CMA again, for personal curiosity. At this point I hadn’t investigated CMA or their followers very deeply.

18th November 2019 is a day I well remember for a discovery I made.

As I wrote here CMA sell a variety of expensive gold and silver pendants on masterangels.org for followers to wear. In summary, the pendants supposedly protect the wearer from negative energy.

https://masterangels.org/product-category/pendants/

Casually browsing the selection of pendants I wondered if McKayla had ever worn one.

So I looked back at her recent Instagram/twitter photos and immediately saw very clearly on her September 28th photos she was wearing one of the CMA pendants. Indeed she appears to be wearing two (plus a smaller heart-shaped necklace not related to CMA as far as I know):

Discovering this was jawdropping at the time. I continued going through her posts. Other photos and videos she posted also showed them, others not so clearly or not at all. Buying and wearing a pendant is not compulsory in CMA but is a key sign of CMA affiliation and strong belief in Master John Douglas’s teaching.

It’s hard to be sure from her photos but McKayla’s pendants look to be the large, most expensive sizes (34mm) so that’s almost $4,000 total.

It’s curious how something can be repeatedly shown to you and thousands of others in plain sight but you don’t it notice until you know the significance.

From that day on, I was curious if and when the pendant would appear next.

Sometimes, her hair was covering the pendant(s) and I wondered if it was on purpose.

At first I couldn’t understand why she would wear two pendants of different colors. CMA’s product pages don’t mention any extra “benefit” double pendants gives, and I hadn’t seen other CMA members wearing two.

Then I had a realisation which is obvious in hindsight. McKayla is wearing her gold and silver Church of the Master Angels pendants in imitation of her gold and silver medals in the 2012 Olympics.

I can’t say for sure this was her line of thought, but presumably she must be aware of the similarity at least.

It was an eye-opening moment when this dawned on me. Just how deep was she into CMA? Did she really believe in MJD’s superpowers?

“Miracles I Can Barely Comprehend”

Later in November 2019, I discovered something even more remarkable which answered “Yes” to that question.

A totally unknown social media account, with few followers, clandestinely run by McKayla as a MJD admiration page. It appears not used since 2019. I prefer not to link it here but will in a subsequent post. I fully understand some might think this is fake but soon I will post more content that undeniably confirms the authenticity, plus the username. For now, please trust the following composite of images is taken from that social media account:

Left (circa summer-late 2018) McKayla and unknown others wearing the same fluorescent adornments as seen in other Elite Graduate celebration photos, such as the one I posted at https://www.descentfromheavenlymountain.is/we-are-not-a-cult/

Right (January 2019) McKayla’s testimony for MJD. Personally, this was an extraordinary find. CMA are fond of sharing praise for MJD but have never done so from McKayla. But here she is sharing it herself on a secret account.

Notice she’s signed her testimony with her full name, but because it’s a graphic (Notes App screenshot) it can’t be found by chance by anyone searching her name. I hold this was done intentionally so as not to attract random attention.

I have made some alterations to the left photo to frustrate reverse image searches, to protect my source. If you do know the account name, I ask you to keep it to yourself for the time being. I do know at least four CMA higher-ups are aware of the account.

“I don’t know if I can put into words what Master John has done for me. What do you say to someone who has given you your life back. Who cures the incurable. Who gives and gives so gracefully. Who has time and time again blessed my life with miracles I can barely comprehend.

My life only gets better because of Master John, and he does the same for the next person, and the next person.. and if you let him, he’ll do the same for you!

Thank you never seems like enough.

So I listen to all the tools, (his CDs) to try and be the best person I can be. To honor him, and make him proud. We love you Master John. Thank you!

McKayla Maroney

Endorsements don’t come much stronger than that. Very much along the lines of other positive MJD endorsements I’ve documented.

So, in January 2019 we can see McKayla was full-in with CMA and viewed MJD as a genuine miracle worker.

Tweet Tweet Delete

On 29th March 2020, McKayla very unexpectedly tweeted about MJD:

@McKaylaMaroney twitter 29 March 2020

Personally this was shocking after almost two years off-and-on researching CMA, because McKayla never properly acknowledged her devotion to MJD, at least nothing I saw. Finally she had gone public with her love for MJD. This was far more obvious to her 544K followers than her 2018 bio link video.

Less than 10 minutes later she tweeted some new song lyrics she was working on about COVID-19. This had the effect of quickly reducing attention for her MJD tweets. As can be seen in the screenshot, it got some replies and interactions but nothing huge. But not long after, both her MJD tweets were deleted and nothing more seemed to be discussed about it.

So she had posted that CMA video, mentioned she found it beneficial (but didn’t go overboard on the MJD praise like her covert testimony did) then deleted it for some reason. I’ve always wondered if she was told to delete them because CMA say they don’t court publicity. McKayla’s 544K twitter followers are definitely not the typical audience CMA like to present themselves to.

I made this blog to discuss the insanity of what CMA, Hartnett and MJD supposedly believe and say. I don’t have a fight with casual CMA members, but I want this blog to open your eyes. Be aware of what you’re getting into. Use your rational brain just like MJD doesn’t want you to. It is the higher-up enablers of MJD I criticize most. I don’t know how high up the organization McKayla is but I will show in the next section, she is certainly an Elite.

Don’t Go Chasing Waterfalls

On 27 September 2020, McKayla posted a short video of a natural pool and waterfall on her Instagram story. Her first update for almost a month.

@mckaylamaroney Instagram story 27 September 2020

I had a hunch she was outside California, perhaps somewhere in Heavenly Mountain, North Carolina to attend this year’s Elite Development Course announced in August:

CMA Facebook 3 August 2020

A few days after this announcement the dates for the three September weekends were scheduled. Note 25-28th is for “Elite graduates only”:

masterangels.org 7 August 2020

Boone is the main town near Heavenly Mountain.

I don’t know precisely where the Elite courses are taught. No photos, videos are public and exact details of the course are kept secret. I believe the venue is the CMA chapel and/or the rather more mundane Heavenly Mountain Community Center nearby:

At first it seemed impossible to identify where that waterfall was, to perhaps confirm she was in NC for MJD’s course. Assuming her video was posted same day it was filmed; there was no reason to think it wasn’t. I doubted a direct question would receive a response.

I searched Instagram for “Heavenly Mountain / Boone” location tags and it wasn’t long until I found confirmation:

Instagram 17 Aug 2020
Instagram 5 Aug 2017

(Redacted details except location tags, as far as I know these Instagram users have nothing to do with CMA.)

A careful comparison of these photos (and others) with McKayla’s 27th September waterfall video confirms without doubt she was somewhere in the Boone/Heavenly Mountain area.

Felt like I was working for Bellingcat.

Later I discovered I needn’t have looked so hard; Hartnett was there in 2010:

Hartnett Facebook 15 December 2010

Sidenote: I couldn’t find the precise location of the waterfall; there are a lot of similiar waterfalls in those mountains. If anyone knows please contact me to satisfy my curiosity. It must be somewhere fairly public and not purely CMA connected, considering it seems a quite well known spot to visit. (Update, 6 March 2021 : location known)

So, McKayla was again in Heavenly Mountain as in 2018. The possibility she was there for anything other than the CMA Elite course is vanishingly small. Remember September 27th was only for Elite graduates.

Recall what Elites are taught on the exclusive $10,000+ course, the revenue of which is sent overseas to undisclosed destinations by way of fulfilling Hartnett’s goal of becoming a “multi-billion dollar company“:

  1. Preparation and installation of the apparatus and angelic assistance for beginning remote scanning ability of matter and energies
  2. Special revelations for rapid remodeling of sensory pathways
  3. Introduction for remote scanning your own body
  4. Transmitting energy
  5. Secret commands to work with the Masters for self healing and assistance
  6. And much more given by the Masters discretion
  7. Proof of God
  8. A special lanyard

To conclude, think about McKayla’s song “Covid Lockdown” and her Apr 17th tweet:

“i wrote covid lockdown as a joke, but everytime i listen to it, it makes me laugh, and i think we could all use a laugh right now

… i love u guys sm!! wish i had words to make things better. hopefully music helps a little

McKayla knew her Supreme Grand Master John Douglas’s claim he can cure COVID-19 and other viruses but instead of telling us his supposed “truth for all”, she wrote “wish i had words to make things better. hopefully music helps a little”.
